Annunciation School Board Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, November 9, 1999
Attendees: Barbara Ryan, Mark Phillips, Kathy Gullo, James Serafin, Mike Sobczak, Elaine Ruszczyk, Dave Muench, John Fitzgerald, Otto Wieand, Janet Shanahan, Mike Pepe, Judy Eckam, Sharon Winkler Unexcused: Glenn Kolpack Teacher Representative Leslie Zielinski was also present.
The meeting began at 7PM with a prayer by Kathy Gullo.
Minutes of the October 1999 meeting were read. Decided: Minutes will be published after approval at the next month’s meeting.
Committee Reports:
Development: A new school marketing flyer is being worked on.
Tuition: Everything is OK regarding tuition payments.
Computer: A student’s parent donated a new computer. There is now a computer in every classroom. The committee is looking into NetNanny filtering software.
Budget: No News
Policy and Planning: The committee will review school-related policies per the Constitution and By-Laws of The Annunciation Parish School Board Amended September 14, 1999.
Education: A copy of the NYS Rules and Standards was passed out. John Fitzgerald noted the emphasis on essay writing.
Mission Statement: No News
Unfinished Business: Clarification of the word "immediate" as it appears on page 2 of the Constitution and By-Laws (Amended 9/14/99). The word "immediate" means spouse, children, parents and siblings of the candidate. The board voted to leave the Section 3 Eligibility requirements, as they currently appear in the constitution The section reads:
Section 3 Eligibility:
Members shall be at least 18 years of age and registered parishioners of Annunciation or any other Buffalo Diocese with children currently attending the Annunciation School. Paid employees of the parish and their immediate families are not eligible for Board membership.
Barb Ryan is going to get together a list of all the events sponsored by the school for the CPR requirement.
The Middle States Review report is due May 2000.
New Business: Elaine presented fund raising information from Target Stores.
