Committee Reports:
Development: Judy Eckam told the board that postcards have been sent out to invite families to Lessons and Carols. The open house is Jan. 17, 2001. New families will be able to register that evening. A mailing list is being compiled to continue increased enrollment.
Tuition: Dave Muench reported working on last years' overpayments. The 30 hrs program has been streamlined. The updates should be sent this month. When families have reached the 30 hrs they will be notified to eliminate overpayments.
Some families have decided to take advantage of our tuition assistance program by applying.
Computer: The CCC remedial program has been loaded on 10 computers. We have 20 licenses available and every student will have an ID # that will track their progress.
Budget: The committee is working on next years' budget.
Policy and Planning: The committee is looking for ideas. A consolidation or summary book of policies was suggested.
Mission Statement: Nothing to Report
Education: John Fitzgerald told the board of this years' main goals.
Unfinished Business: The flashing signal permit is being signed off on.
There have been many complaints about the cleaning crew. New bids are being looked at.
After an idea session a new committee has been formed. The Building and Grounds Committee will be headed by Dave Muench and Otto Wieand. Dave has resigned from the budget committee to help here.
Problems with the lack of heat in some rooms are being worked on.
Blackboards - Working on replacements where needed.
New Business: The 8th grade dance policies were discussed. One board member reported that the rules were being changed midstream. The school board's position is that this should be settled amongst the 8th grade parents and Mrs. Domske. (The school board will only get involved if there is a fundraising policy conflict.)
The Spanish policy was clarified. If a student is in remedial classes they are not required to take Spanish.
The homework demerit policy was questioned. Some board members felt the policy was too lenient and as a result students are not doing their assignments.
Other:
The meeting was adjourned after a prayer by Jim Serafin.
