Annunciation School Board Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, August 7, 2001

Attendees: Mary Jane Liszewski, James Serafin, Otto Wieand, Judy Eckam, Robin Bartnik, Mike Pepe, Elaine Ruszczyk, Bernadette Bookmiller - Unexcused: John Fitzgerald - Excused - Dave Muench;

No Teacher Representative was present.

Otto Wieand opened the meeting with a prayer.

Motion was made to approve May and June's minutes by Judy Eckam and seconded by Elaine Ruszczyk. The May minutes were approved as amended. June minutes were approved as submitted.

The Board Eligibility Amendment was approved by a vote of 6-0.

Officers were elected for 2001-2002. They are as follows: Otto Wieand - Chair; Dave Muench - Vice Chair; Jim Serafin - Secretary. Approved by a vote of 5-0.

Jean Sobczak was elected to serve on the board by a vote of 5-1.

Committee Reports:

Development: A motion was made to vote on the tuition raffle at the picnic. A vote was taken and passed 6-0. The board has approved an official recommendation to raffle the free 1-year tuition's as a means to raise enrollment and to help defer tuition increases. The board has thoroughly discussed the pro's and con's and feels this is one way to make Annunciation School more affordable and meet its budget.

Tuition: Nothing to report.

Computer: Nothing to report.

Budget: Nothing to report.

Policy and Planning: Nothing to report.

Mission Statement: Will continue the development of the Mission Statement after Mary Jane gets settled in.

Education: Nothing to report.

Building and Grounds: Americare Cleaning Service was contracted to clean the school for a 1-year period.

Unfinished Business: Nothing to report.

Principal Issues: Mary Jane Liszewski introduced herself to the board and shared the following with the board:

A spiritual theme for the year would be integrated. Memos will be sent weekly for all parents.

A new handbook will be provided the first day of school.

A manners and respect program will be implemented this year. Each week will focus on a lesson and parents will be provided the schedule so they can reinforce at home.

 

 

Extensive improvements to procedures and policies have been made to conform to Diocesan requirements and recommendations.
As of today there are 203 students enrolled Pre-K through 8.

New Business: We have openings for school board positions.

Other: A motion was made to bring to a vote, the purchase of lunch tables out of school lunch program money. This was the purpose of the fund's creation. A vote was taken and was approved 4-0. Judy Eckam excused herself from the vote.

A "What's Available List" was voted on and approved 6-0. The list will be sent to parents in August so they will be aware of what events are available to fulfill their 30 hours.

The meeting was adjourned after a prayer by Judy Eckam.
