End of year picnic- Tuesday, May 16 (rain dates, May 18 and May 22), 12:00 noon, at Marilla Park. Bring your own lunch, drinks, blankets/chairs. Potluck dessert! If you would like to participate, bring goodies to share with the group. Please label if the dessert contains peanuts. Great opportunity to meet other homeschooling families, find out about group activities, sign up to volunteer for the group, and have fun! Bring resources to sell or give away.

Playgroup - Tuesday afternoons, 1:00 - Are you looking for ways to connect with other homeschooling families? Playgroup will begin meeting every Tuesday at Marilla Park, beginning Sept. 19. We meet at the playground up the hill behind the park offices. When the weather turns cooler we will move indoors, renting the Kelsie Moore Memorial Gym in Brookhaven. Families participating in winter playgroup will need to join the Mon Areaa Homeschollers Association and pay an additional $10 to cover the rental fees for the entire season. New families are welcome to visit once at no cost. Questions contact Janine at jbreyel@excite.com

Meetings- 2nd Monday of each month- beginning Oct 9 at the Blue Moose Cafe. First meeting we will talk to older homeschoolers and parents of older homeschoolers. Come join us and learn from their experience. Question contact Janine at jbreyel@excite.com.

Ice skating- Every Wednesday 1:00 to 3:00 Beginning Oct 4- Municipal Ice Skating Rink at White Park reserved for homeschoolers. $4 per skater, which includes skate rental.Questions contact Bettina at Bettina@westco.net.

Bowling- Every Wednesday 1:00 to 3:00 in September. $1.75 per game per child, no extra shoe rental cost.

Pizza Hut Book-It! program - Children in kindergarten through sixth grade set their own reading goals and receive pizza coupons for achieving them. Contact WhiteDove, revwhitedove@adelphia.net.

Cleaning up trash along a 1/2 mile portion of the Rail Trail - an ongoing homeschooling group/4-H club project, once a month cleanups. Contact Bettina for dates and times, bettina@westco.net. Meet at the parking area by the Jeep dealership on University Avenue, near the lock and dam. Please bring a trash bag; we provide gloves.

Target Shooting - Any boys or girls interested in learning firearm safety and marksmanship skills are invited to come target shoot with the Mason-Dixon Rifle Club Jr. Division. We meet once a week at he Masoon-Dixon Rifle Club range (summer) or at Marstillers range (winter). Questions, contact Pete Deal u1b04062@mail.wvnet.edu (a homeschooling dad).

The Blue Knights and the Little Flowers, a Catholic Homeschool children's group, meets on the first Friday of each month at 10:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Star City for activities, crafts, games, snack, and noon Mass. Weather depending, outside picnic lunch, followed by play/board games. All are welcome! Contact Patricia at wileshillclan@yaho.com with questions.

Learning Options in Fairmont. This homeschooling group meets weelkly at the Police Reserve building at East Marion Park. Planned activities for the autumn are reading discussion groups, science activities from Fairmont State's chemistry department, math workshops, nature hikes, and more!
