The links below describe my present pond. useful links, mistakes I have made, things I would like to do to my pond in the future, useful links, the continual process of landscaping my pond and an expanding list of past mistakes. Those of you thinking of building your first pond or adding to your present pond should read the link '25 Years of Mistakes.' For those of you who believe that fools walk where wise men fear to tread, check out the 'Adventures in Spawning ' link below. It describes my three attempts at spawning.
In 2004 I decided to augmented my pond's filter system by adding a trickle filter. Trickle filters feature an unusual top-down flow through media deign that is open to the air. The result is a filter that is very efficient at removing nitrites, but with several drawbacks. Trickle filters are very popular in Europe and Asia. Water quality improved markedly. The link below is not quite finished.
I have written two articles that appeared in the magazine 'KOI-USA.' The drafts for these two articles can be accessed by following the link 'KOI-USA Articles.' Many Koi enthusiasts landscape their ponds using traditional Asian themes, usually Japanese but sometimes Chinese, so I have started a page devoted to the publicly accessible Japanese and Chinese Gardens, most located in Southern California.
