Things we dig...

8/19/03: Well, I hate to say it, but The Liars are no more. Mr. Brooks is now Dr. Brooks and has accepted some crazy post-doctoral position at Georgetown, the silly bastard. He's off to the nation's capital, thus ending the Liars as you know and love them.

I apologize to everyone for not being able to put together a last hoorah gig, but schedules and the always supportive State College music establishment (note still ever-present extreme sarcasm) were against us. We did have a last practice where we played for Tim's dog, though. I think he really liked it.

Tim and I are mulling over our next steps. Whether we sally forth immediately carrying the mantle of rock or take a breather for a change of direction is unclear. The one thing that is clear, however, is that regardless of what we re-emerge as, we will have a different name. As most of you know, there is another band called "LIARS" from Brooklyn who have ruined a perfectly good thing for us by becoming popular. Don't get me wrong, I think they're a great band, but forwarding their email has gotten really old. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I'm thinking Positronic Love Ray.

I want to thank everyone who ever came to see us and didn't throw anything dangerous. But seriously now folks, we've met a lot of great people and had a lot of fun over the last five years, thanks.

One more thing... we've got a bunch of recordings half finished that I'm hoping to polish and have pressed into a retrospective CD in the next couple of months. It will have all the old stuff with Tony singing, lots of newer stuff that hasn't been released, covers and maybe even some video if I can swing it. If you're interested, send me your email address and I'll keep you posted. This web domain will be going away in about a month so you're safer to email to me at mulleys@adelphia.net. I'll also post information at www.mp3.com/theliars which will stay up.

Again, thanks Ian, thanks Tim, thanks friends, family and fans. Live long and prosper.

5/6/03: Oops, forgot to do an update. Well we had a great time at the Skeller last month and actually won that battle of the bands, although we declined the prize - a return engagement the following week. The reason is that the bird-like Mr. Brooks is in crunch time on his thesis and needs to focus on his studies and drinking. He assures us that he'll be successful and back ready to rock in mid-June. Thanks to Judgement and Jesse Vital, it was fun fun playing with you guys.

3/30/03: This Thursday is our rescheduled appearance at the Skeller's Battle of the Bands. Unlike most of our shows, I can guarantee that we'll be starting at 10:00 sharp, so don't be late.

3/7/03: Well, we're back up. For those of you who noticed, the site was down for a few weeks, but the fine folks at Adelphia, specifically Dan, finally got things straightened out. In the meantime, we managed to have the first quick practice since "the snowboarding incident" and Ian's knee held up pretty well. We should be back in business soon (unless, of course, Ian does something else stupid).

2/25/03: Ian had an MRI on his knee today so we should know soon when we'll be back in business. Stay tuned.

2/18/03: Thursday's Battle of the Bands gig is cancelled due to the snowboarding ineptitude of a certain drummer we all know and love. Fact of the matter is that Ian has severely injured his knee (the important right one) and maybe broken some ribs in a snowboarding accident. He sees a doctor tomorrow to find out how serious the damage is and when we can reschedule. Stay tuned. In the meantime, go out and vote for Uncle Travelling Matt who are playing because they are not bad snowboarders.

2/16/03: Friday's gig in Ebensburg was very fun. Nice little town, and the Castle Pub has a swell ambiance. Many thanks to Keystone All-Stars for having us. We hope to do it again.

Up next is a battle of the bands Thursday the 20th at the Skeller. They're doing this every Thursday for a while and the "winning" band gets a regular opening slot on Fridays. That would be very cool because I'm old and my kids don't let me sleep in, so the early time slot is just my speed. Anyway, enough of my troubles... we go on at 10:00 sharp and get a 40 minute set. Audience members will get a ballot to vote for their favorite act of the night. That would be us.

2/7/03: Played last night with Body and Soul at the PA Dance Theatre benefit. They're a disco, pop, party music band and now my official favorite band in town. The contrast was tremendous, but it looked liked people were having fun. I certainly did. Went to the Atherton Hotel for a quick adult libation pre-show and ran in to the Bon Jovi road crew. He plays this weekend and they've been in town all week for rehearsals. We couldn't get the crew to get Jon and come to the show. Well just for that, I'm not going to his stupid concert. Take that Bon Jovi!

By the way, the December Crowbar show was quite good. We couldn't get another band to lay and so got the opportunity to do several sets. Big fun and not a bad turnout. You should email Chuck at the Crowbar chuck@dantesinc.com and tell them you like us and would frequent their establishment and consume their adult libations if The Liars were playing. Of course, you'd also have to follow through on that more challenging showing up bit.

Also met a bunch of nice locals after that show, one of whom produced one of our cds and asked us to sign it. Crazy.

Next week in Ebensburg!

12/22/02: Sorry that there haven't been any updates. Things have been rather quiet on the band front because they've been absolutely nutso on the personal front. Suffice it to say that just about everything in my (jp) life is new. I moved on a moments notice right before the holidays. That was smart. My office moved too. My lovely wife, Felicia, gave birth to our third child and second daughter, Fiona. And on the same day, my sister-in-law made us aunt and uncle for the first four times by giving birth to her quads: Nathaniel, Cooper, Emma and Madeline. I'm not even making that up. Oh, and I became an American citizen finally after squatting since 1973. Congratulate me and beware because now I can vote.

Well, I have to get back to working on the new house to make it livable, the old house so I can sell it, and Fiona is screaming, so so long.

Oh, don't forget to come see us Friday at Crowbar.

Oh, and one more bit of news. Our illustrious ex-singer Tony got married last month to a swell gal named Christine. We wish them a lifetime of happiness.

9/18/02: The monumental return of The Liars was, well, wank. I think most of State College was still either in a coma or recovering from the festivities Saturday night after to the Nebraska game. Guess I can't blame them. If I wasn't Canadian and had any appreciation for college football, I'd probably be in the same shape.

Remember, tomorrow is national talk like a pirate day. Seriously. Haarr!

9/10/02: Ian is back from old Blighty, and we're back on the scene next Tuesday at the Brewery. Tell your friends and neighbors and take Wednesday off. At least Wednesday morning. Hope to see you there.

9/4/02: Wentle Trap has notified me that the link to their site is plum broke. I looked in to this matter and determined that they were, in fact, correct. I should learn how to use my software. So this is a gratuitous plug to visit their site to make up for my grievous error.

9/1/02: Sure enough, I made it all the way to the Half Life gig on the second try. What a great time it was seeing them again. Frankly, they sounded better than fifteen years ago. Revile!

August chart action: 13th Anniversary charted as high as 16th on MP3.com Garage chart (8/20/02), Crosseyed to #29 - not too shabby. Thanks for listening.

8/24/02: Well Auguust 2002 has turned into the summer of 1987. I went down to Pittsburgh last weekend to see the reunion of my old pals the Crow Flies. Big big fun. While there I found out that my old pals Half Life are doing the reunion thing last night and tonight. Unfortunately the Liarsmobile had a mechanical problem 40 minutes into last night's journey causing me to have to abort and return home. I will not be denied today however. It's been a blast seeing a bunch of old Pittsburgh scenester friends that I haven't seen in a decade.

Finally, Ian will be back next week so get ready for new gig announcements. Check back soon.

7/30/02: Hey there, pardners! Well I hate to say it, but it looks like we won't be performing until September. I'm taking the family to the beach Saturday, and Ian goes to England next week for practically a gall-danged month! Hell, it's tricky enough pulling off the technically demanding material that is The Liars repertoire as a trio, but without a drummer? Ain't gonna happen. So... our traditional summer hiatus is in effect. See you in September.

PS Crosseyed hit #26 on the MP3.com Garage charts in July. Yah, baby. We are so garage. Which is ironic since I live in house built in 1865 that has no garage. OK, it's not that ironic, but hey, it's late and I'm tired.

7/14/02: Last night's show was a blast. Finally, a packed house at the Brewery. I promise never to bad mouth Arts Fest again. Thanks to all you strangers who got up and danced and egged us on. My two favorite comments:

"I was sober and you were awesome!"

"I don't even like rock music, but you guys were great."

Gotta love that. At least I do.

7/12/02: 13th Anniversary up to 29 on the garage chart. If You Were Mine up to 4000 on the punk chart. I think it's official: we're a garage band.

Last week's show at Crowbar was quite fun. It was the first time we've played with Giving Chase in ages and I was blown away. Lots of new material which rocks hard. Yes, Wentle, you guys ruled too. I liked the Twisted Sister song.

Please come early tomorrow night at the Brewery, we play whenever there's a crowd until around midnight. Axum goes on after that. And take pictures of us, we haven't had any updates in a while!

6/18/02: 13th Anniversary at no. 32, Crosseyed at 69. Uh, huh, huh, huh. (Aside: Man, I miss Beavis and Butthead.)

6/15/02: Doh! I spoke too soon. www.mp3.com/theliars is back up and operational. In fact, yesterday, 13th Anniversary was no. 38 on the garage charts and today we've rocketed to no. 36. Top 40, baby!!!!

6/14/02: Sigh. The mp3.com people have not yet approved the remastered tracks, so we are still without audio. I apologize. If I'd had any idea it would take this long, I would have just changed the names or something. Thanks for being patient (even though many are not).

New gigs lined up at The Brewery.

6/3/02: Several people have noticed that we've disappeared from MP3.com. Never fear, this is a temporary situation. I uploaded remastered versions of all the tracks, and had to delete the old versions. The new and improved versions should be approved and up in a day or two.

5/26/02: Wow, what a busy couple of weeks. Here's a recap. The Brewery shows have gone very well, particularly last night. Got a very nice complement: "I've seen you guys five times now and I'm still not bored." Woo hoo! Nevertheless, we need to expand our covers reperatoire if we're going to keep doing the bar thing. Send me an email with your requests: jp@theliars.org.

The Crowbar show last week was awesome. Had a reasonably decent crowd for the summer, but the key was that the lineup totally rocked. Black Rose Diary and Keystone All-Stars were magnificent, and I think it was the most coherent lineup we've played with in ages. Rock!

Fish has been playing Bionic Lover on the Local Anesthetic show which is back on QWK Rock (97.1 FM) on Sunday at 6:30 PM. Thanks Fish! Call him at 800-494-ROCK and request more and more!

We had a little feature written up about us in the Weekender section of the paper last week. Woo hoo! Thanks to Jeff Bundy for the positive words. I can feel the rock and roll juggernaut picking up steam. Or maybe I've had too many martinis. Signing off...

Oh, and one more thing... a very sincere thank you to everyone who's come out to see us lately. The Liars feel the love, baby. We are honored to serve you.

5/8/02: Two new gigs lined up. This Saturday (definite) and next Thursday (highly probable) at the Brewery in State College. Holy crap, Batman, three shows in a week! We're playing all by our lonesome on Saturday so come out and hear the world premiere of a few never performed covers and a brand new original, "Stay Hot Mildred." We have to fill three hours somehow!

PS I went to DC this past weekend to see Nick Cave and his lovely and talented Bad Seeds. They were so ridiculously amazing, shame on you if you die without seeing them.

PPS If you live in Williamsport, PA and have nothing to do this Friday, my pipe band is marching in the parade at 5PM. Come on down, everybody loves a parade, for crying out loud!

5/5/02: Radio news: QWK Rock has a new version of our cd with radio-friendly remixes of all your favorite songs. So don't be afraid to request songs with that nasty f-word anymore because now it says the nasty word backwards. It's so amusing that I might try to learn to sing live that way. Fish has taken over the Local Anesthetic duties from the fired J.B. Lynch, so make sure you bug him and request us. Thanks.

We'll be getting a new and improved cd to WKPS this week as well. By the way, I finally figured out what was wrong with the info I gave out earlier about Dave's show. It's 11AM to 1PM (not 11PM to 1AM). Doh! Oh well, the semester's over anyway. The operative point is that the station has the cd and you should call and request it. Over and out.

4/25/02: We just confirmed Black Rose Diary for the May 15th Crowbar gig. They're a great new band from Northwest PA. Check out their website at http://www.blackrosediary.cjb.net/. And don't forget to check out the All-Stars at http://www.keystoneallstars.com/.

4/23/02: We're putting together a Crowbar show for May 15th. The Keystone All-Stars confirmed today. Yeah! We love those guys and so do you. At least one more coming. Stay tuned.

4/18/02: A big thank you to all who came out the last two weeks at the Brewery! We appreciate it very much. The Brewery was duly impressed with the turnout and our performances and has promised a Friday opportunity. Stay tuned.

Hey, if you've been trying to tune in to WKPS to hear Dave's show and been frustrated, join the club. We're trying to get updated information. Sorry.

4/4/02: Hey everybody! We've got gigs coming up the next two Mondays in a row at the Brewery in State College. Sure, Monday's are lousy, but they're giving us a shot to see if we can draw before giving us a more prime time. We need your support! Please come and bring all your (over 21) friends. Thanks.

4/1/02: Happy April Fools Day. Added a load of new pictures from the last two shows with Tony (The Invisible Man and The Drag Show). Enjoy. Thanks to Eric Hogg and Michelle Shemo for the pics.

Also, make sure you listen to Dave's radio show on WKPS 90.7, Friday nights at 11. He's a really nice guy, and smart too, given that he likes us. So call him up at (814) 865- 9577 and ask him to play The Liars! You out-of-towners can stream the show at http://www.lion-radio.com/.

3/27/02: Mr. JB Lynch at QWK Rock has been fired! Probably had something to do with playing us on the radio. But seriously now folks, this is a sad turn events, especially for Mr. Lynch. Thanks JB and good luck.

We played a last minute gig Monday night at Crowbar. Note to self, no advance warning + no publicity = no audience. OK, I'm exaggerating, there were some folks there, maybe 50 if you include the bands. Thanks to our friends for coming out on such short notice to see the debut of the Liars as a power trio. As my pal Stef said, just like Rush!

3/10/02: Mr. JB Lynch at QWK Rock has been playing us during his Local Anesthetic radio show. Thank you, Mr. Lynch! And kudos in general for supporting local original music. Note to all of you: call QWK Rock and request us. You can pick from Bionic Lover, If You Were Mine, Cross-eyed and First Time. (Our other recordings all have naughty words - oops.) The number is 800-494-ROCK. JB's local show is Sunday evenings at 6.

2/9/02: A memorable evening at the Crowbar last night. Keystone All-Stars were added at the last minute and it was great to see those guys again - great band. Next up the Liars and, as always, Tony had a surprise in store for the crowd (and us): full drag. Knee-high boots, stockings, mini skirt, red vinyl jacket, red flapper wig, boobs, the whole nine yards. He was hanging around the bar before we went on and had most people fooled / frightened, including his former boss. Damned amusing. So going with the moment, we opened with Little Red Riding Hood to welcome him on stage, then proceeded to rock. I think it was one of our best efforts. My lovely wife reported that there were a few hecklers chanting "you suck, get off the stage" from the upper deck, but that they were pudgy ex-jock types who I am sure were just angry from being turned on by the hot guy on stage.

On a personal note, I was supposed to fill in on bass for Wentle Trap (and had been practicing feverishly all week to learn the incredibly complex arrangements) because Dusty is in Texas for several months. Well thanks to Greyhound, he managed to make it to the show on time. It was a bit of a let down at first, having listened to nothing but Wentle for a week, but in retrospect I have never been so happy to get fired in all my life. Why, you ask? Well, because Paul vomited on stage, that's why. And not just once. The delicious (so-to-speak) irony is that I was going to dress up in a plastic Devo-like suit to mask my identity (pretty clever, no?) and had joked that it would afford me a measure of protection against Paul throwing up. You see, Paul is never sober. Anyway, it turns out that Dusty's approach to vomit is much different that mine: he rolled around in it.

1/8/02: Well, we're back up after the AT&T@Home debacle. If you've been living in a cave a la Osama and haven't heard, our internet provider went belly up, causing a temporary hiatus in the availability of this site. Sorry. Meanwhile, we played at Crowbar on December 18th and boy, what a pleasant surprise- almost 300 people showed up. Holy crap! If you're not from State College you probably can't appreciate the shock of 300 people showing up on a Tuesday night during winter break to see original music, but trust me, it was impressive. It was great to see a bunch of people that we haven't seen in ages because we've been so lame about playing out. We hope to rectify that and get back on track in 2002.

9/6/01: Where to begin... forgive me visitors for I have sinned. It has been 10 months since my last update. First off, I guess I should report that the news of our death has been greatly exaggerated. It's true that we haven't made much noise in 2001. Only one performance - July 21. The reason is that we lost Tony on a trip to the Belgian Congo. Well, ok not really, but the real story is personal, so there. Suffice it to say that Tony is now officially a guest vocalist who will play with us when he's in town (like on July 21) but that the Liars are now a trio. Tony is out west pursuing opportunities that are not readily available in central PA, and we wish him the absolute best. I guess this is kind of like a Descendents/All thing, but I don't want to come up with a new band name since we've already paid for the web domain and stickers and what not.

So Timbo, Ian and I have been busy learning lyrics and vocal parts, writing some new stuff, and even learning a few more novelty covers to keep the kids entertained. We'll be playing out again as soon as some local clubs cave in to our cut-throat negotiation tactics. Stay tuned, and if you book shows, drop me a line at jp@theliars.org .

11/21/00: Remixing was worth it. The new mix is way heavier, tremendously loud and generally rocks with impunity. (Michael, I'm making you a copy as we speak.) Buy it!

11/8/00: Wow, a month without an update, sorry. Let see, what's been going on... oh yeah, the Liars first ever frat gig went surprisingly well. I tell you they don't make frats like they used to in my day (oops, dating myself), if they had I might have joined one. We were slated to play with another band, 969, but they didn't show up until really late so we ended up being the house band and playing for over two hours straight. It was manly as many witnesses will attest to. By the end of the night, we were playing songs we didn't know but that didn't seem to bother anyone. For the cliché lovers in the house we played Louie, Louie with great fanfare. If they invite us back we'll learn Shout just to make the circle complete.

We're going back to the studio November 18th for some remixing. We hope you care.

10/7/00: We received some bad news this week about a friend of the Liars, John Blazier. Seems that John broke his neck in three places last week while in the pit at the RevFest at Tussey Mountain. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

9/18/00: Saturday was an amusing day. We spent the early part of the day mixing some new recordings at Bill Filer's Audible Images studio (Bill is a good egg and we highly recommended him). When we arrived, the intrepid Bill was at work playing some tracks. Ian and Tony were loitering outside finishing off a cigarillo and a cigarette, respectively, and as the door opened a heady waft of rock and roll mingled with the malodorous (note: editor's bias) aroma of the cancer sticks (or fags as Ian would call them, not that there's anything wrong with that). So get this... Ian turns to Tony and says, completely seriously, "wow, these guys f***ing rock, I wish I was in THAT band." Well, you guessed it kids, Ian was hearing was the righteous sounds of the Liars' new track Manchurian Candidate -- so he got his wish, he is in that band. We're still trying to figure out whether that's a testament to Bill Filer's talent at making a kicking recording, or whether Ian is about as sharp as a sack of wet mice. (squeak)

So after mixing, we went to play at the much lauded Chaos Fest in the truly pastoral setting of Pennsylvania Furnace, PA. This was a novel experience as it was our first time gigging in a barn. Everyone was cold, except for Tony whose hip waders and pink tuxedo kept him comfortable. Timbo (God of Thunder) had a family wedding he had to attend, so Dusty from Wentle Trap sat in with us on bass (and did a fine, fine job). Thanks to Dusty and all the folks who turned out to generate some heat in an otherwise very cold barn. We met some cool people too, including The Freeway Killers from Pittsburgh whose singer unfortunately ended up sustaining a severe wrist injury during the "dancing" that broke out when we played Country Roads. Sorry, dude, but punk rock! Get better soon. I bet John Denver was looking down saying, "far out!"

9/11/00: Friday's show in Latrobe was rescheduled, see shows page.

8/29/00: Added many new photos from the wedding gig.  Video on the way (maybe).

8/4/00: Added a few photos from the silly string gig.

8/3/00: Last night's show at Crowbar was memorable. In the first place, it was surprising that they let us play there again after the Silly String Incident. In the second place, Tony surprised everyone, including fellow band members, by showing up and singing in a wedding dress. Evidently he was upset that Darva Conger beat him out in the Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire fiasco, and the runners-up didn't get much publicity. Never let them tell you that the Liars are not damned entertaining.

7/25/00: Friday's show in Altoona was a good time. Big thanks to the Keystone All-Stars for hooking us up, a nicer bunch of guys you couldn't hope to meet, and they rock too. Thanks to all the barflys who had positive comments as well, especially the two women who got up and danced to Palm Wine Drunkard, although we must confess it wasn't really a Doors song - we lied. Sorry.

7/12/00: Added some new photos to the images section, and thumbnails to boot.

7/10/00: Well people, it's been a long time, but Mr. Brooks is finally back from England where he married Joe, the lovely now-Mrs. Brooks. After a fabulous honeymoon at Torremolinos, he's back and ready to rock. Speaking of rock, we're going into the studio July 27th so look for some new material soon. We're desperate to get back to gigging, so if you're setting up a show, let us know!

5/28/00: Last night's gig at Mr. Roboto in Pittsburgh was a disappointment from a turn-out perspective, but we had fun nonetheless. We arrived a little early but fortunately there was a tattoo parlor next door to keep our entourage amused. Heidi had her nipples pierced at sundown, Kirsten had one of those big bars put through her lip, and Dusty had a very cool design he came up with on the drive down tattooed on his arm. That boy is an artistic genius. The only band member to have work done was young Tony, who now sports a fetching nip ring, the rest of us being sensible fellows -- well except for Ian who awoke from his fetal position in the back of the truck quite disappointed that he'd been beaten to the nipple punch, so to speak. All the bands were great, we really enjoyed their sets, but if a rock band plays and there's no one there to hear it, did they really rock?

5/24/00: Thanks to everyone who came out to the Crowbar gig last night. Not our best effort, but thanks for all the support and positive comments. On a merchandise note, we didn't have CDs to sell due to computer difficulties this week, but should have them at future gigs -- or just send us a check and we'll mail you one.

5/17/00: added a ton of lyrics. In fact, all the songs we're currently playing live are listed for your perusal.

5/1/00: Well, our show in Tokyo was nothing short of amazing. What an honor and privilege to be able to serve as Ambassadors of Rock to throngs of Japanese youth. I guess it goes without saying that our cover of "Surrender" almost brought the house down. A big "domo arigato" to everyone who made our all too brief stay so memorable. And special thanks to the twin quasars of rock, John and John, for bringing us along, you guys are geniuses! (and not just because you brought us along.)

4/25/00: added merchandise information.

4/17/00: by popular demand, have added a lyrics page.

4/15/00: trekked to Latrobe last night for a gig and to pay homage to Arnold Palmer, the punkest of the classic golfers said to "play golf like a bar-room brawl." In addition to the Liar mobile, Tony took his car to give a ride to our good pals in Wentle Trap who came to offer moral support and to see if it's true that Latrobe smells like Rolling Rock (answer: no). The organizer wanted us there early so after a brief pit stop in Ebensburg, the Liar mobile chugs ahead to start setting up. Bad idea. In true German tradition, Tony's car decides that engine coolant is for sissies and blows it all over the road. Luckily, Kirsten is amazing with electrical tape, and manages to patch the car together so that they can limp to the gig, albeit about 2 hours later. On the positive side, we met some really cool people and sold all the cds we had with us (which might almost cover the cost of all the cell phone calls to the State Police barracks checking to see whether our singer and friends were dead.) Also, several people entering/exiting the VFW bar asked us if we "had any weed, man?" (Answer: no.) Thanks to everyone in Latrobe, we hope to see you again soon.

4/15/00: learned that the guy who lost the tooth is actually named Bob. Sorry and thanks to Toothless Bob, what a trooper.

4/7/00: the Liars are disqualified from the Battle of the Bands and will not play Movin' On 2000. In a set cut short by the man at 18 minutes, we managed to be the only band of the night to:

· get more than 5 people to stand up,

· break a sweat,

· use the word "dork" in a scientifically informative statement,

· have a member of the audience lose a tooth,

· spill real human blood,

· produce energy.

The judges, evidently, were not impressed. But a huge thanks to everyone who came out, we really appreciate the big turnout. Special thanks to Micheal Biek who came straight from the airport in a suit, to Tom who gave the tooth, and to Adam Mihlfried, the organizer of the event, who let us play an additional song even though the HUB staff wanted to shut us down.

3/17/00: a guy from the bar we played at last night calls at 2AM just as I'm walking in the door and accuses us of stealing 2 Sony stereo speakers from the bar. Threatens that if the speakers are not back by tomorrow, "your ass is grass." (I'm not even making that up.) Anyway, our collective ass hopes that by now they have noticed that the speakers were left neatly tucked under the stereo in the corner of the bar (to make room for the drums).

2/12/00: last night's performance at the House of Wentle shut down by cops after Tony sings prophetic line: "gotta go before the cops show up." Not making that up.
